what can I expect?

This is a life-changing program.

Stepping into this program is stepping into the declaration that you are ready to shed the patterns and behaviors that are not really you. This will require your wholehearted presence! You will get out of this program what you put into it. If you set aside the time to show up 100% every single weekend and do the work that is expected of you, you will see life through completely different eyes by the end of the program.

This program is NOT just about teaching yoga…

NYN’s 200 hour yoga teacher training program is a true education in the history, practices, and life path of yoga. It is also a course in self-understanding, and the road to self-mastery. Many people enroll in this program simply to discover how the yoga lifestyle ultimately deepens their relationship to themselves in a way they never knew was possible.

this program is based on vinyasa yoga.

While we will look at Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, and yoga for back care, this training is grounded in the principles of vinyasa yoga. We will practice vinyasa yoga every single weekend. This means lots of sun salutations! You will want to prepare your body and mind to practice by hydrating, eating nutritious food, and PRACTICING YOGA. You will likely be sore during the early stages of the training, but your body will thank you for it as it responds to the demands you are placing upon it!

You must commit to attend ALL weekends.

The integrity of the program depends upon the full participation of the group. You are not allowed to miss a full weekend for any reason. If you have an emergency and must miss a portion of a weekend, you can schedule time to make up the material, but you will have to pay the private session rate for the time you miss. This is anywhere from $100-$125 per hour. If attending sessions becomes an issue, you may be asked to leave the program and attend another one at a later date.

the weekends are intensive, but expect breaks…

We will have eating breaks on Saturday and Sunday, as well as small breaks throughout. Your days will be a balanced mix of movement and sitting for lectures and discussions.

expect some Outside Requirements…

  • You will be expected to maintain a home practice of 30 minutes to one hour a day, with one day off each week. During our first weekend together, you will be provided with ample instruction and support for this!

  • You will attend 14 classes (at NYN and other studios, in-person and live stream) during your training and submit class feedback forms.

  • There are reading assignments required PRIOR TO the start of training.

  • There will be ongoing reading assignments between each weekend.

  • You will write a 5-10 page research paper on an approved topic of your choice.

  • After our third weekend together, you will begin to teach free classes to family and friends unassisted (a total of 10 classes over the course of the training) and submit teaching feedback forms.

  • We will assess your learning through quizzes throughout training. During our last weekend together, you will have a written exam and a teaching practicum.

At the end of this course, you will be certified to teach yoga at the 200 hour level and may submit your certification to Yoga Alliance to become an RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher). You will also have the prerequisites necessary to enroll in a 300 hour course in order to receive your RYT-500 from another Yoga Alliance-approved school.
